The Hibiscus Festival

In Fiji, from the 18th to the 25th of August, a Festival is held. It's called the Hibiscus Festival. The Hibiscus Festival is held at Albert Park, Suva, Fiji. There are two main rides there. They are the Ferris Wheel and the Merry Mixer. Our nickname for the Ferris Wheel is 'The Ferris Wheel of Death.' The reason for that is because someone has died on it before. We went on the Ferris Wheel once but we didn't realise that thier rides aren't safe to go on. So we went on it. But before we got on, there were four kids on the seat in front of us, their lock/bar wouldn't stay closed, so they found a peice of wire and wired it together. It went very fast and the operator left it running so we were all on there with no one controlling it. A couple years later someone actually died on it! Not cool. We never went on it again.
The Merry Mixer, we go on though, because it's safe to ride on( which I'm glad for because it's really fun.) It mixes you with other people so when you're about to crash into another seat you suddenly swish past them. The only problem with it though is that people next to you,( like Dylan) are always squishing your shoulder against the other person/ the edge.
At the Hibiscus Festival, there are lots of stalls. My brother got a humongous candy floss for only $2.00! And boy was it huge!  But I spent my $2.00 on a double scoop ice- cream because it was really really hot. It wasn't as big but it was more filling. There are other mini carasouls around the park but they are over taken by stalls. There are lots of people selling stuff like; necklaces, rings, bracelets, weaved mats and all those type of things. Overall the Hibiscus Festival is a very big celebration in Fiji.

I will be learning more about the Hibiscus Festival in my projects.
