Robinson Crusoe Day Tour

On the 15th of Septmber we caught the bus to a resort called Tambua Sands. The bus was very squishy-squashy-squashed! When we got to Tambua Sands we got welcomed with a Welcome Drink while Dylan and I played table tennis. The rest of the day went well and so we got settled into Room 21.

The next day we caught another bus to a jetty and then got on a boat. On the boat there was a guide called Ephy,( pronounced efee)who was basically in charge.

When we got to the island we signed up for the Water Park, which is this big blow up- wipeout-zone- thing that you can play on. There is also a zorb which is pretty much a hamster wheel.

We went snorkelling and we saw lots of fish but it was really rough so we came back to the island. They did a couple of cocunt demonstrations like;  how to open it and an easy way to get the coconut and the milk out and things like that. Then they dug up the lovu which is what we had for lunch and they did some fire walking and some fire dances. We also went to turtle viewing to go see their turtle named Milo. It was very interesting and cool. Then we caught the bus back to Tambua Sands. That was the end of our Robinson Crusoe Day Tour.

Come back for more soon...

The Hibiscus Festival

In Fiji, from the 18th to the 25th of August, a Festival is held. It's called the Hibiscus Festival. The Hibiscus Festival is held at Albert Park, Suva, Fiji. There are two main rides there. They are the Ferris Wheel and the Merry Mixer. Our nickname for the Ferris Wheel is 'The Ferris Wheel of Death.' The reason for that is because someone has died on it before. We went on the Ferris Wheel once but we didn't realise that thier rides aren't safe to go on. So we went on it. But before we got on, there were four kids on the seat in front of us, their lock/bar wouldn't stay closed, so they found a peice of wire and wired it together. It went very fast and the operator left it running so we were all on there with no one controlling it. A couple years later someone actually died on it! Not cool. We never went on it again.
The Merry Mixer, we go on though, because it's safe to ride on( which I'm glad for because it's really fun.) It mixes you with other people so when you're about to crash into another seat you suddenly swish past them. The only problem with it though is that people next to you,( like Dylan) are always squishing your shoulder against the other person/ the edge.
At the Hibiscus Festival, there are lots of stalls. My brother got a humongous candy floss for only $2.00! And boy was it huge!  But I spent my $2.00 on a double scoop ice- cream because it was really really hot. It wasn't as big but it was more filling. There are other mini carasouls around the park but they are over taken by stalls. There are lots of people selling stuff like; necklaces, rings, bracelets, weaved mats and all those type of things. Overall the Hibiscus Festival is a very big celebration in Fiji.

I will be learning more about the Hibiscus Festival in my projects.

Week One in Fiji

On the 17th of August we left our house and started the long, long drive up to Auckland. In Auckland we stopped at our friends place for the night and got up at 3am and drove to the airport even though there was no time for breakfast L. When we arrived in Fiji we were taken to our new home to have a look at it. It’s a small house, just a couple of houses away from our old place in Fiji, 36 Lovoni Rd. Now we’re at 52 Lovoni Rd. The only major difference from our home is that Dylan and I share a room.

It’s been very hot here- when we arrived it was around 9am but it was about 24 degrees!  We have been swimming a few times at the Holiday Inn ( which is a hotel,) but I’m the one who goes in the most.

This week is the Hibiscus Festival, I dont know what it celebrates yet but I’ll find out soon. Yesterday we went to the Hibiscus Festival. The Merry Mixer, which is the ride Dylan, Dad and I went on, was really fast and was really fun. Afterwards I got a double scoop ice -cream and Dylan got himself a giant candy floss. J

Be writing more soon...
